Our experienced staff aim to help individuals with neurological problems to maximize their functional ability to participate in their daily activities and involvement in the community.
We offer a goal-orientated service, which means that we take an active approach to setting goals with the individual on what they want to achieve from the treatment sessions.
The approach is a “hands-on” facilitation of movement through activation of correct muscle and alignments to generate the necessary movement and the required meaningful changes in the brain.
We can treat individuals with a wide range of neurological conditions, these include;

T his is a severe condition that affects people of all ages. It is a major life changing event and can leave the individual with severe impairments that limit their day to day activities and participation in the community.
Who do we treat?
If you have just come out of hospital and wanting to carry on with the rehabilitation that has started.
If you have been discharged from hospital and receiving some outpatient follow up or community rehabilitation but just wanting to top up or increase the frequency of treatment that you receive.
If you are someone that has had a stroke many years ago and needing help with problems that are reducing your quality of life.
If you are someone that has suffered from a minor stroke, that did not require hospitalization but who still experience reduction in your movement and balance abilities.
If you should fit into any of the above scenarios, then please give us a call and discuss further. Please be aware that we are unable to give specific advice to anyone about their conditions without first completing a full assessment as everyone have different clinical needs and goals.
S pinal Cord Injury (SCI) is a severely limiting condition that can lead to major reduction in function and participation in life and within the community.
Incomplete SCI
Recovery from an incomplete SCI can continue for years and can be slow. Ongoing Neuro-physiotherapy can work to maximize the individual’s recovery and help them to achieve optimal functioning.
Goal Orientated Treatment programmes can involve the following
- Gait rehabilitation.
- Balance and posture.
- Strengthening programmes.
- Advise on home programmes.
- Advise on use of equipment and aids.
Complete SCI
This can be well managed by the individual and caregivers. Physiotherapy can assist with education to caregivers on chest hygiene and techniques used to maintain this, positioning and stretching. We can also assist with transfer techniques to prevent injury.
What can a physiotherapist do?
A comprehensive assessment will be completed. This will involve certain tests which are designed to bring on the symptoms that the individual is complaining of as in-order for therapy to be effective reproduction of symptoms need to occur so that adaptation can occur within the nervous system.
Once the assessment is completed an individual programme will be tailored to meet the goals set.
