Early treatment means a quicker return to sport…
Appropriate Self-management is the most important factor in early resolution of pain and swelling. Regardless of what you hear, it is vital that we see you as soon as possible for a speedy recovery.
Our Staff have a variety of post graduate qualifications in injury
management as well as many years of clinical experience.
You can be confident you will get the most up-to-date rehabilitation, including strengthening and functional retraining in our onsite Rehabilitation Gym.
Inflammation Control
RICE ( rest, ice, compression and elevation ), electrotherapy ( ultrasound and interferential ), acupuncture and Kinesio Taping can all be utilized in the early stages of the inflammatory process – the aim being to reduce internal bleeding into the damaged tissue as much as possible.
Spinal Manipulation
High Velocity Technique to restore spinal joint movement. Joints that require this approach can cause significant pain and restriction of movement – the effect of the manipulation can be immediate.
Acupuncture
The insertion of needles into acupuncture points to stimulate the bodies natural healing systems, getting you on the paddock or court quicker!
Real time ultrasound Imaging
Using a diagnostic Ultrasound machine to test your core muscle activation, we use biofeedback to teach you how to activate these muscles correctly to provide core support and enhance your ability to play and prevent injury.
Mobilisation
Moving and gliding joints to stretch shortened/stiffened joint and ligament structures to restore normal movement to the affected joints. This allows the joint to retain the movement and flexibility necessary for your return to sport.
Trigger Point Dry Needling
The use of acupuncture needles to release trigger points that form in muscles that cannot function normally due to poor movement patterns or in response to pain.
Dry Needling Plus
The use of acupuncture needles to create a neuromuscular reaction resulting in a healing response and muscle release.
Movement Patterning
Retraining muscles to return to correct movement patterns that have been altered due to injury.
Kinesio Taping
This is the brightly coloured tape you may have seen on athletes on TV. A flexible tape that uses its recoil effect to inhibit or stimulate muscle action. It will improve movement function, reduce pain and bruising. Applied INCORRECTLY, kinesio tape could cause further damage. AHS has several Physiotherapists trained in the correct application of KT.
Cupping
A technique using suction cups to encourage an increase in blood flow to the damaged tissue to aid healing and break down adhesions and swelling in the area. It looks worse than it feels!!
Exercise Rehab
Specialised rehabilitation equipment is used in our on-site gym at each clinic. You will be set a customized programme to restore the specific movements and power required to return to your particular sport.
